Four in 10 Buckeyes own at least one firearm, with more than 208,000 registered guns accounted for within Ohio as of 2021.

That’s according to independent market research firm Statista, which ranks Ohio ninth in total registered guns compared to other states.

If you are from Ohio and want to sell your gun collection, AimHi can help. AimHi has a Federal Firearms License to buy and sell handguns and long guns, so we know how to follow Ohio and federal laws. We have extensive experience in buying gun collections from private collections and estates. We are interested in talking to anyone selling gun collections in Ohio.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

To purchase a long gun in Ohio, buyers must be at least 18, with some restrictions. To purchase a handgun in Ohio, buyers must be at least 21. These restrictions apply to sales through a licensed dealer and private seller. Additionally, antiques or replicas must be purchased according to modern Ohio law.

DEALER SALES

The state of Ohio requires anyone purchasing a firearm from a licensed firearms dealer to complete a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms transaction form 4473. The dealer is also required to perform a National Instant Criminal Background Check System check on the purchaser. If the buyer is flagged and disallowed from purchasing for unjustified reasons, an appeal process is possible, including challenging results of a criminal background check.

PRIVATE SALES

As it stands, there are no state laws governing the private transaction of a
firearm; anyone who is permitted to own a firearm may sell a firearm. In Ohio, local governments are barred from enacting public policies deemed more restrictive than state law for firearm transactions.

CLASS 3 ITEMS

Ohio allows for ownership of Class 3 firearms and firearm accessories, including machine guns, suppressors, short-barrel rifles, short shotguns — everything legal under the National Firearms Act registry.

AimHi can guide you through the process of selling any collection, including those with Class 3 items, offering peace of mind from transactional liability.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Trade — Bring your firearm in, and AimHi managers will swap your old firearm for a new model or a completely different gun you’ve been eyeing.

  • Consignment — AimHi can place any of your firearms on consignment for you. List them with us to sell in the store, or we can list them for you on an online auction site. Auctions are a popular option for selling firearms. Gun collectors visit auctions, looking for rare, fascinating and valuable firearms. Many firearms sold at auction are part of an inheritance or personal collection. Firearm auctions enable sellers to get the best price for their guns. Instead of haggling you can choose a starting bid for your item. From there, it is worth whatever a collector is willing to pay, with the auction site taking a simple commission.

  • Sell — AimHi welcomes outright sales. Bring in your firearm in and a staff member will offer a valuation of it for you.
